Clinical Study: Lipids Increase Exposure to Oral CBD
The article “Dietary fats and pharmaceutical lipid excipients increase systemic exposure to orally administered cannabis and cannabis-based medicines” was published in the American Journal of Transaltional Research in August 2015.
The aim of the study is to shed light on the effect of properly designed lipids in cannabis formulations which has shown to enhance the oral bioavailability of CBD by 300% and to investigate possibe mechanisms.
According to the article, “Our results show that the co-administration of cannabinoids with lipids enhances the bioavailability of THC in rats by more than 2.5-foldand of CBD by almost 3-fold.”
